Making Your Hairstyles Last Longer

Published by on October 11th, 2011

So you’ve spent hours creating the perfect hairstyle and merely a moment later your hair has decided to be uncooperative, consequently ruining your fab look. There are many, many things that can cause your hairstyles to fall flat, for example a long, gruelling day, humid weather, touching your hair, or simply moving around too much can put an end to your style. One of the most common complaints is frizz and flatness, but you can put a stop to this and enjoy your hairstyles for longer if you make a few changes in your styling routine.

If your hair is limp and thin, change to ‘extra volume’ shampoo and conditioner to give it more body. After washing, massage some mousse or gel to the roots of your still wet locks. When drying limp hair, you should incorporate the correct technique. Hold the hair dryer with the nozzle pointed upwards at the roots of your hair, or flip your head upside down and dry that way. When you’re done, style your hair as you want and finish it with some extra hold spray, misting over the roots first then on the rest. This will help set the style and keep it in place.

If your hair tends to not follow orders, use some styling product to gain some control. Gels, serums or creams that help hold styles firmly are the best. After washing and drying your hair, use some styling product and smooth your locks down with a flat iron. Make sure the styling product contains a thermal protectant to safeguard your locks from the heat. This technique works great for polished updos.

If you’re fussed for time, massage some leave-in conditioner and pull it up into a ponytail or bun. This will help create a controlled, elegant style and the conditioner will help keep your tresses in place when it dries.

If frizz is a big problem for your, protect your locks from humid conditions with a silicone based control gel. Apply the gel to your hair starting at the roots and comb it in gently, then leave the gel to dry.

Follow these tips and don’t worry about a hair falling out of place!
