Cute Hairstyles for Short Hair

Published by on September 23rd, 2011

Who said short hair was limited when it comes to styling? There are plenty cute and sassy ‘dos to keep eyes on you if you have short locks. Here are a few ideas for you to try:

Cute curls

This is very easy to do. Run your hands through your clean and wet hair for a moment, twist your bangs and pin them to the top of your head with bobby pins, doing the same thing with the sides. Grab some gel and spike up the back, but don’t overdo it. Once your hair is dry, take out the bobby pins and enjoy the curls!

Short and curly updo

Take parts of your hair, twist them up and secure them to your head with clips. Accessorize with colorful clips if you like, making sure that the hair is clipped tightly so that the strands stay in place.

Polished short hair

Apply a golf ball-size amount of mousse to your damp hair and use a comb to make a deep side part. Smooth the hair on the heavy side part across your forehead and tuck the hair behind your ears while it air dries. You should have a polished, professional look. If you want it smoother, go over the hair with a flat iron for best results.

Headband

You can add this accessory to give the illusion of an updo. Perfect for special occasions! Just work in some mousse into your damp hair, then flip your head upside down and blast it with a hair dryer, simultaneously tousling your locks with your fingers. Place a 1 to 2 inch headband into your hair, or use a thicker one right over the hairline. Tease the hair behind the band so that it won’t slip. For a boost in shine, use a styling product, like Pro Naturals Moroccan Oil.

Fun and Easy Messy Hairstyles

Published by on September 22nd, 2011

Messy hairstyles are growing more and more popular by the day, but how do you accomplish a successful messy style without it looking sloppy? Messy styles are perfect for day-to-day activities and casual meets, especially when you have no time to create a polished look. When there’s not even a minute to spare, just work with ‘day-old’ hair, skip the shampoo and transform it into a stylish messy ‘do. As long as it’s not too greasy, it’ll be fine! Here are some ideas for you to try:

Loose, messy bun

If you have the length to spare, try one of these. You can make a loose, messy bun without the need for a brush, just your fingers! If your hair is tangled and unwashed, it will be perfect for this hairdo. Simply flip your head upside down and pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic band. Wrap the tail around the base until your hair has formed a bun, and fasten it to the base of the first elastic band with a second elastic or with bobby pins. Pull out a few locks to frame your face and you’re done!

Messy curly hair

With dry or just-washed hair, you can transform thick curls into a natural, glorious mess. To style dry curls, use your fingers or work in a light mouse to add more volume. On wet curls, absorb the excess moisture with a towel, flipping your head over and scrunching the curls to create body afterwards. Flip your head back up and use mousse if you want to add an extra boost in body.

Short, messy hair

If you have short to mid-length hair, use gel or mousse to create a messy style. Use a palm full of styling product on dry or just-washed hair. Rub your hands together with the mousse or gel and work it into your locks, tousling the hair until you have achieved the desired messiness.

If you want your hair to look healthy and shiny as well as messy, try Pro Naturals Moroccan Oil for better results.

Simple Tips for Sexy Waves

Published by on September 19th, 2011

Want sexy, wavy styles? Just take a look at these very easy to follow steps and enjoy natural waves for any occasion!

Rocker Waves

These are easy to create if you combine the right products. Apply some shampoo to your dry hair first, it will get rid of any grease and add more volume. With a little bit of texture balm, warm it up in your palms and thoroughly work it in your hair. DOn’t overdo the quantity, you don’t want to weigh your hair down with product. Flip your hair upside down and scrunch it, using a spritz of spray gel to prevent frizz.

Natural Waves

Apply some anti-frizz and leave-in conditioner to your wet hair. Pro Naturals Moroccan Oil can also work. Wrap your entire head in a towel to remove excess moisture without causing frizz. Leave the terry cloth on your head for a while and then unwrap it to let your hair air dry. You will have natural, hassle-free waves in no time!

Hollywood Waves

A very popular look among celebs during red carpet season, and you can do it yourself! Start with unwashed hair. If it’s looking greasy, grab some dry shampoo and sprinkle it on your roots. Spray the rest with styling spray and roll halfway up using hot rollers. The bigger the hot rollers, the more glamorous the style. While they’re still warm, spritz them with hair spray and take the curlers out straight away. Make a deep side parting and shake your locks out to loosen the curls.

Beachy Waves

the perfect easy going, tousled look for out-doorsie styles. Use a brightening shampoo to bring out your highlights (whether natural or not) and towel dry your hair. Apply some salt spray from roots to ends to create a beachy, surfer look. Finally, add some leave-in conditioner on the ends if they look dry or dull.

Short Waves

Add some wave-enhancing texture cream to your damp hair. Twist small locks around your finger and then wrap your head in a towel. Unwrap after 5 minutes and allow your hair to air dry. When your hair is completely dry, apply some shine spray.

How to Take Care of Your Hair

Published by on September 2nd, 2011

You can express yourself in many ways through your hair, but what can you hope to express with dry, damaged locks? Hair care is important if you want to look your best, so here are a few pointers you should ponder when it’s time to take care of your tresses.

Wash less frequently

We’re not saying you should go for weeks without washing your hair, but if you wash it every day you can reduce the condition of both hair and scalp. Washing hair often can strip away the natural oils your scalp produces, and what you get is greasy hair because your scalp will over-produce oils to try and make up for the loss. The temperature of the water makes a difference too; if it’s too hot it can damage your hair, so keep it lukewarm. Also, avoid the over-use of hair products, that way you won’t need to wash your locks so often. Try and find shampoos and conditioners with natural ingredients instead of chemicals such as sulphates which are more harmful. A deep treatment once every week in addition to shampoo and conditioner can really give your hair a boost and help it recover.

Protection from heat styling tools

Always use a thermal protectant before using your hair dryer, flat iron or curling iron. Avoid all silicone based hair products, these can fuse to your hair and take the moisture out of it when you heat style. When blow drying your hair, apply the thermal protectant and comb it in gently with your fingers when your hair is about 50 percent dry, then use the hair dryer on a low or medium heat. If you want to add an anti frizz product, do so after styling, not before. Using Pro Naturals Moroccan Oil can help your hair out a lot when you want to protect it from heat styling tools and keep it smooth. If you can, and if your hair has suffered much damage, avoid using heat styling tools.

Avoid coloring often

Don’t dye your hair too frequently, do it only when you need to. If you really want to dye your hair again, use colors that don’t contain bleach because you can really damage your hair. Hair dyes come with many harsh chemicals that can dry your hair and make it brittle, the ideal thing would be to stop coloring altogether and leaving your hair natural. If the damage is too much you can cut your hair short and wait for it to grow while constantly looking after it. The damage will be reduced to the ends of your hair which can later be trimmed.

Eat the right food

What you eat can influence the growth and condition of your hair. If you don’t eat your hair will suffer because a malnourished body won’t waste precious nutrients on your hair. Eat plenty of protein (not too much) like meat and eggs for hair growth and repair, omega 3 fatty acids like oily fish and almonds. Vitamins are great for hair, especially vitamin B6 (potatoes, spinach and bananas) and B12 (found in lamb, beef, eggs and cheese). Drink lots of water! Your hair requires hydration and your skin won’t complain either.

Environment

External factors can harm your hair but this can be avoided with preventive measures. Go out with a hat or bandanna if the sun is hot, or use a product designed to protect your hair from the UV rays. Avoid products that use alcohol! Try to avoid overly polluted and smoke filled areas, your hair can dry out and accumulate dirt faster. When swimming use a leave-in conditioner to protect your locks from the chlorine, or simply use a swimming cap.

How to Scrunch Straight Hair

Published by on August 26th, 2011

There are lots of things you can do with straight hair, like scrunching into sexy styles. How can this be done?  Hair texture and the kinds of styling products you use can influence the outcome, but here are a few easy steps you can follow for lush waves and great volume:

• Wash your hair and wrap it up in a towel. While it’s still quite wet, remove the towel and part your hair where you want it.

• Brush your hair to get all the tangles out, then section it off into four parts. Two parts down the middle at the back of your head  and then halfway through the top, leaving you with a section on the top and one on the bottom.

• Apply mousse to the first section, the bottom one, without spreading it to your roots because your hair will look greasy. After the mousse, apply gel to the same place, making sure it’s curl shaping gel with extra strong hold.

• Braid the section, making it as tight as possible. Repeat the previous step and this step with the rest of the sections.

• Once all of your hair has been braided, give each braid a thorough application of hairspray, avoiding the roots to prevent them from greasing up.

• Perform the steps overnight, spraying before going to sleep. When you wake up, take the braids out and you should have waves in your hair. Scrunch it up using mousse and hairspray to get it ready for the day.

You can also try wetting your hair and pulling it into a French braid overnight, using hairspray before going to bed. Take out the braid when you wake up and use mouse to scrunch up the waves. Apply some hairspray to hold the style for longer. If you need more root volume, scrunch your hair with your head upside down.

Messy buns can also work, so put your hair in one overnight and add some hairspray, making sure your hair is slightly damp so that it can dry in the bun (or braids). Take your hair out of the bun in the morning and you’ll experience smooth waves.

For best results, use curl-defining mousse or gel to your hair or define the look with a curling iron.

Wedding Hairstyles for Long Hair

Published by on August 10th, 2011

If you have lovely long locks you want to show off on your big day, but you don’t want to trouble yourself with elaborate updos or complicated hairstyles, consider leaving your hair natural and loose. Practise the style beforehand, whether you’re going to do it by yourself or with a stylist. If you’re going to use a stylist, let them know how you want the style and let them carry out all the details. Remember to consider the veil, it can influence your hairstyle. Remember that with leaving your hair down, you’ll need to protect it from the elements and keep it nice and shiny. Pro Naturals Moroccan Hair Oil can help you accomplish this.

Here are a few styles you can try on your special day:

Loose Curls and Waves

A popular, fairytale princess look, loose curls and waves in your long locks go very well with a tiara and veil. Just take a curling iron (for professional results check out the Karmin Salon Pro Clipless) and curl large sections of your hair to get fat curls. Don’t forget to use thermal protectant before you heat style to keep your locks healthy. After you’ve curled your hair, let it cool and use your fingers to break up the curls, misting over with a finishing spray to set the style and enhance lustre with some shine spray.

Pinned Back Curls

if you want long loose curls without suffering them in your face for the entire day, this is a beautiful yet practical alternative. With this hair style you can add decorations and accessories like jewels or flowers where your curls are pinned back. Simply curl your hair and then use bobby pins to secure one side behind your ear. To cover the bobby pins, use a flower or other accessory, and finish with a spray to keep the style in place.

Half Updo

If you want to show off the length of your hair but you don’t want even one curl to get in your eyes, consider the half up do. Just curl your hair and pull the top half up, twisting it into a bun using a simple clip to secure the hair in a ponytail then pull through. You can thread some flowers or pearls into the cascading curls for a beautiful effect.

Messy Curls

Easy to achieve and a lot less stressful to maintain, you can use a curling iron or hot rollers to create fat curls, then pull at them with your fingers to get a tumbling, tousled look. If your wedding is going to be at the beach or in a breezy place, this hairstyle is ideal if you want your long curls tossing in the wind.

Ten Hairstyles Ideas for Curly hair

Published by on August 2nd, 2011

Nowadays, straight hair is all the rage. We see curly women straighten their hair for every occasion, even to go to work because straight hair looks much more professional. But lovely, bouncy curls are beautiful too! You just have to try these professional curly hairstyles without straying from your natural look.

1. Curly Bob

Now when you imagine a curly bob, you probably see a mop of curls on your head. But your curls will actually look tighter, shinier and more professional, plus it’ll be a lot easier to maintain, with just a few trips to the stylist to trim every once in a while.

2. Braids

These are a nice, neat way to keep curls under control. For those with longer curly hair, a side braid will make a good work look and also seem stylish. Make sure that when you braid, keep it tight to control your curls.

3. High Ponytail/Bun

Another way to sweep the curls away from your face, while staying trendy and professional. With longer hair, tie it into a high ponytail and let the curls naturally cascade down. If you want to freshen up your look, use the Karmin Salon Pro Clipless Curling Iron to enhance those curls.

4. Completely Natural

Sometimes the best thing is to let your hair down and flaunt your natural curls. This creates a much softer and youthful look and guarantees a second glance. You do need to maintain it, so try Pro Naturals Moroccan Oil to keep your curls smooth and glossy.

5. Half up

Letting a few curls down to frame your face always looks stylish, so try tying half your locks up while leaving the rest free.

6. Accessorize

Hair accessories can complement your hair and also keep it out of your face. Headbands, funky clips, stylish bobby pins all work to create a look.

7. Twists

Grabbing some hair, twisting it back and pinning it to your head makes for a classic but functional style. Be sure to twist tightly to end up with a polished look.

8. Bangs

Not all hair types can handle bangs, and if your hair’s curly, bangs could be a challenge. Make sure they don’t cover your eyes and when you go to get them cut, make sure your curls are dry rather than wet, to avoid getting them cut shorter than you want.

9. French Twist

Classic and chic, the French twist looks professional on anyone no matter the hair type. You can wear this style tightly or loosely with stray curls framing your face.

10. Pin it Up

Using bobby pins, take layers of your hair starting from the top and pin them up. Once you’ve pinned up the top half, get creative with the bottom half, twisting up hair and pinning it to your head. Add hairspray to the finished result!
